Who We Are

Volunteers Committed to Bridgeport Parks

Park City Conservancy is a volunteer engagement and coordination initiative, where using digital portals, we match Bridgeport area volunteers with maintenance opportunities; and other community service organizations with willing volunteers.

We organize and lead short work sessions to care for the City of Bridgeport's 50+ Parks and open spaces. All done with the goal of building community engagement and pride of place for all community members and volunteers.

Origins:

"Great idea! Who's going to take care of it? "
Answer: Park City Conservancy

Bridgeport boasts recently installed nature-based solutions to help solve real environmental issues: urban reforestation, buffer gardens, bioswales, pollinator gardens, etc. All were initiated with passion and donations, however the Bridgeport Parks Department budget was never expanded to meet the maintenance needs of these new projects. Even basic park care like weeding, watering and litter abatement remains a challenge. They simply cannot do it all.

Our Park's situation was predicted. In 2020, Bridgeport Master Plan of Conservation and Development stated that "acheiving a state-of-the-art open space and recreation network would require a cooperative effort among the City, advocates, volunteer and friends groups and non-profit organizations." That is where we come in.
